September 2004
Certainly one of the most challenging orders in the company's history is running since 1/3/2004 until mid-2005 at Frankfurt Airport for our customer Arge Kirchoff-Heine from Langenargen. In approx. 240 nights the almost 3.5 km long north runway, the first and therefore oldest at the airport, is to be completely rebuilt.
In total our 18 truck tractors are transporting approx. 1,100,000 ton of material, of which approx. 350,000 ton of grit is from Unterwiddersheim and Oberwiddersheim to the asphalt mixing plant 78 km away in Neu-Isenburg, a further 350,000 ton of building rubble and foundation materials is to the RC installation in Kelsterbach and approx. 350,000 ton of ready-mix is to and from the runway.
From around 3 pm the pre-produced asphalt ready-mix is temporarily stored in a hall. Then night after night the building activity begins again.
On approximately 15 m of the 60 m wide runway the concrete and foundations are being broken up and replaced with a new RC material and the temporarily stored ready-mix. At around 5 am the work must be concluded, so that air traffic can begin to use the runway again from 6 am. As the transports take place at night when air traffic is still running, intense concentration is required from our drivers.
